Hardingham

The War Memorial is set on the back wall in St. George’s Hardingham. It is made of wood complete with golden plaques inscribed with the names of the fallen. Of the veterans, Ernest Risebrook and Arthur Whitehand are buried in the churchyard behind the church.

John T. Abel

John was born on 8th August 1895 and died on 27 March 1918 in France aged 22. He now rests at the Cabaret-Rouge Cemetery in Souchez, France.

Bertie W. Adcock

Bertie was born 10th February 1893 and died on the 15th November 1916 aged 23 after he was killed by a German sniper in No Man’s Land. His body was never recovered but he is commemorated at the Thiepval Memorial.

Charles was born on 24th February 1895 and died on 20th April 1917 aged 22. He now rests at Deir el Belah War Cemetery in Israel.

Alfred J. Chaplin

Alfred was born in 1891 and was reported missing, presumed dead on the 14th October 1917 aged 26. His body was never found but he is commemorated at the Arras Memorial in France.

William A. P. Foster

William was born on the 2nd June 1887 and died in Germany on the 11th November 1914. He now rests in the Niederzwehren Cemetery in Germany.

William Gayford

William died at sea on the 19th November 1915. He was buried at sea and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial in Turkey.

Frank was born in 1895. He was killed in action in March 1918 and buried at the Epehy Wood Memorial Cemetery in France.

Horace was born the 25th July 1895 and passed away on 6th January 1918 in Deopham. He now rests in Deopham St Andrew Church in Deopham.

Arthur was born on the 23rd June 1884 and was killed in action in France on 17th April 1918 aged 33.
